Wenxian is located about 70 km North West of Zhengzhou（the capital of Henan province），on the left bank of the Yellow River（Huanghe）. By bus it takes only one hour ride from the outskirts of Zhengzhou to reach the county seat of Wenxian. After following the motorway linking up Zhengzhou to Luoyang，one has to turn right north into a broad modern road，crossing the Yellow River on large bridge，then entering the countryside of Wenxian. Actually two newly built main roads cross the county，from South to North（towards Bo’ai and Jiaozuo），and East（towards Wuzhi）to West（towards Mengzhou）. So Wenxian is no more a back sided city，formerly cut from direct transportation from Zhengzhou and with difficult access to other county seats. These concrete roads，with very light traffic，contrast with the rural roads which branch out towards townships and villages. Narrow and pot-holed，they concentrate most of the local traffic（tractors，trucks，etc.）.
